Governors support the school wholeheartedly and play an active part in the life of the school. Two governors are elected from the parents of children at Stewards Academy, one appointed by the Local Authority, five are appointed from the local Community, one from the teaching staff and one from the other staff in the school. The Headteacher is also a member of the Governing Body.

The Governing Body comprises an effective mix of relatively new governors and those who have been associated with the school for many years. They are thus able to bring a long term perspective and fresh ideas to current issues.

The governors operate through two committees which report to the termly meeting of the Full Governing Body. The committees are responsible for Pupils & Curriculum and Resources incorporating Finance, Premises and Staffing. Coming from a wide range of different occupations (including education, commerce and industry), the governors bring their skills and experience to the benefit of the school through the work of these committees.
