Essex Teaching Awards 2025

Stewards Academy was delighted to have representatives attend the Essex Teaching Awards on Wednesday 18th June 2025. The annual event was held at the beautiful Hylands House in Chelmsford, and was organised by Essex County Council to recognise the outstanding work of individuals and teams in school whose work is of the highest standards possible.

There are fourteen awards, with titles such as "Primary School Teacher of the Year", "Teaching Assistant of the Year", "Secondary School of the Year" and "Nursery Provision of the Year". This year there were over one thousand four hundred nominations made for the fourteen awards.

Our amazing Head of Maths, Mrs Woolley, was nominated for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School. This is a very popular category and attracts around one hundred nominations. Mrs Woolley was selected to be in the final three for the award by the judging panel and was one of two “Highly Commended” awards.

Mrs Woolley's nomination highlighted her "strong and impactful leadership on the maths department at Stewards". It recognised the "successful raising of standards in the maths department over the last two years", as well as "the provision of a wide range of opportunities for students to extend their maths knowledge and practice". Finally, she was nominated for "her relentless and selfless dedication to delivering the best possible teaching and learning experience for students at Stewards".

Mr Drew, Headteacher, said: “Stewards Academy is immensely proud of the fully deserved recognition that Mrs Woolley has received in these prestigious awards. It was an absolute honour to attend and to share this special moment with a wonderful colleague. Well done Mrs Woolley!”
