On Wednesday the 25th of April the year 7 and Year 8 netball teams played in the Harlow netball tournament at St Marks. Although the year 7 team were understrength due to the majority of their players being on an outdoor pursuits trip to Bude, they showed that they could content with a weakened team. They played five tough and gruelling games and were victorious against a strong Mark Hall team. Participating in the competition has given them valuable experience for their upcoming matches and will hold them in good stead for next year’s competition.
The year 8 team on the other hand played with fire in their bellies and we determined to end their successful year on a notable high. First up a strong St Mark’s team who have in the past defeated us. However the girls dug in and drew the game 3-3. They then went on to beat Burnt Mill 3-2 and convincingly beat Passmores 8-0 and Mark Hall 6-0. They were crowned Harlow Netball Tournament Champions 2013. Team: Darcy Giddings, Izzie Dorkin, Lauren Sykes, Megan Cunningham, Mollie Jarvis, Rebecca Dodd, Sara King, Alice Nevill, Casey Hendricks and Rebecca Osbourne. Congratulations to the year 8 team and here’s hoping for a great year next year.
