Big School Bird Watch

This year was the 10th birthday of the RSPB’s Big School’s Bird Watch and the second year that Stewards students have come out for an hour on their Saturday morning to count the number of species of birds living in Stewards ancient meadow. Armed with identification books, cameras and binoculars the students spotted a variety of common garden birds including Chaffinches and Greenfinches but the most exciting find was the presence  of two Fieldfares who were overwintering here from Scandinavia. The results obtained will be posted on the RSPB’s website as part of their annual audit.
