Art & Photography Trip to Kew Gardens

Stewards Academy’s Year 11 Art and Photography pupils were lucky enough to attend Kew Gardens, London as part of their Natural Forms coursework.

Thankfully it was a beautiful autumnal day and pupils were able to explore all aspects of the gardens. The exceptional sunshine brought out all of the wonderful colours; this excited the photography pupils and allowed them to produce some excellent and vibrant photographs.

The art pupils were captivated by the beautiful grand plants and the Victorian glasshouses that home many native and exotic plants. They were able to produce abstract and detailed sketches that will form the basis of their portfolio work.

One pupil said: “It has been a fascinating trip and I’ve really enjoyed being able to get up close to the stunning flowers. It has inspired my art work.”

Helen Martin, Subject Leader for Art and Photography said: “Being able to explore this sort of environment first-hand is really important for pupils as it encourages them to broaden their own experiences and enriches their work. They are able to capture a range of exciting images and colours and really understand Natural Forms for their coursework. The pupils were a credit to the academy. ”
